The short answer
Use Flippa when you've decided to sell an online business or digital asset and want access to a large pool of buyers, with tools for due diligence, legal documents and escrow. Use CoSell when you have an asset and aren't sure selling is the answer. On CoSell, people can propose partnerships, licensing, sponsorship, revenue shares or uses you hadn't thought of, and CoSell also covers physical resources like space and equipment.
How Flippa works
Flippa is a marketplace for digital businesses. Its categories include websites, Amazon businesses, content sites, YouTube and social media accounts, newsletters, SaaS, ecommerce, apps, games, plugins, projects and concepts, and domains. On its pricing page reviewed on 7 October 2026, Flippa says its features have helped buyers purchase over 450,000 digital businesses, with more than 12,000 deals completed annually. Those are Flippa's own marketing figures, not independently audited figures.
Sellers pay to list. The official pricing page reviewed for this article shows smaller-asset self-service options including Entry at a $29 flat fee for a 60-day term, Boosted at $49 for three months, and Premium at $199 per six months. Another seller table shows Standard at $49, Premium at $399 and Ultimate at $599, each per six months; a different asset band shows Standard at $129 and Ultimate at $699. Packages depend on asset value and service level, and renewal charges may apply. The reviewed small-asset table lists NDA and confidentiality at $199 extra for Entry and Boosted, and included in Premium. Check the official seller selector and checkout for your asset rather than assuming one table applies to every listing.
When an asset sells, Flippa charges a success fee calculated as a percentage of the final sale price. The reviewed official page displays rates from 10% down to 5% across its asset-value selections. Confirm your applicable success fee with Flippa before listing. Its reviewed buyer pricing table also advertises FlippaPay from 1% and Escrow.com from 1.2%; some seller tables advertise FlippaPay from 0.50%. These are starting rates for different contexts, not a quote for every payment.
Flippa supports different sale formats: auctions, classified or fixed-price sales, and private or off-market sales. Its pricing tables describe both full and partial sales; eligibility and service availability depend on the selected package. Tools and integrations do not remove the buyer's responsibility to check an asset.
How CoSell works
On CoSell you post a resource with a sentence about why: it's dormant, underused, growing, or you're curious. People propose what they'd do with it. You choose which proposals to explore and, after acceptance, talk directly.
Posting is free. Proposals and connecting can use credits, depending on the current rules and allowances. CoSell doesn't handle transactions, run escrow, or take a percentage of any deal. See how CoSell works and current pricing and credits.

The same asset, posted two ways
Say you have a newsletter with 25,000 subscribers in commercial real estate, built slowly, never monetised. This is an illustration, not an available CoSell listing.
On Flippa, you'd list it for sale with traffic, subscriber and revenue data, set a price or run an auction, and hand it over to a new owner if it sells. Clean exit.
On CoSell, you'd post it and say you're open to ideas. Proposals might include sponsorship, a co-created report, a partner sending offers to your list without you handing it over, or someone wanting to buy it outright. You keep ownership unless you decide otherwise. Any use or transfer of subscriber information must respect consent, privacy law and the relevant service terms.
When Flippa is the better choice
You've decided to sell. The asset has revenue or traffic data a buyer can verify. You want tools for negotiation, legal documents and escrow. You want access to a large pool of active acquirers.
When CoSell is the better choice
You're not sure you want to sell. The asset has little or no revenue but real potential, like an audience, a waiting list, a dormant brand or an unused feature. The resource is physical, or doesn't fit a business-for-sale category. You want ideas before deciding on a price or a path.
Can you use both?
Yes. CoSell can be a way to explore how other people might value or use an asset before deciding to sell it, not a formal valuation service. If the best proposal turns out to be an acquisition, a marketplace built for transfers may be the right place to close it.
