If you've been meaning to post something and haven't, I'd guess the reason isn't effort. It's the number.

Price it too high and you feel slightly ridiculous. Too low and you'll wonder for months what you left on the table. So the easiest option is to not decide, and the thing stays exactly where it is.

Here's the part that gets missed. A thing without a market doesn't have a price. It has a guess. Yours, usually made alone, usually shaped by what you paid for it or what you'd be embarrassed to accept. Neither of those is what it's worth to the person who needs it.

On CoSell you can post without a number. People send proposals, and each one tells you something. What they want it for. What they'd pay, or trade, or build. Sometimes a use you hadn't thought of at all (which, honestly, is the best outcome, even if you end up saying no).

A proposal isn't a contract. You can decline. You can ask questions. If you accept, the conversation happens directly between the two of you, because we don't take a cut of the deal or step into the negotiation.

The first proposal is rarely the one you take. It's the one that makes the second one easier to judge.

What would you learn about something you own if three strangers told you what they'd do with it?
