Capable person looking to make a movie!

I would love to make a movie. I’m a writer and a painter. I’m pretty handy, I learn quickly, and I’m happy to help out on someone else’s production in whatever way is useful, whether that’s sets, art, writing or just an extra pair of hands.
I’d also love to learn from people who know the craft: how to get started, write a script, or raise money for a film. Could be a local crew in Dallas, a student or indie filmmaker, someone with a script and no team, or an idea I haven’t thought of.

Community theatres always need people to build and paint sets, great way to meet the crew types.
Your painting skills could give a tiny film a distinctive look. Find a Dallas filmmaker willing to shoot one scene in a location you can transform with painted backdrops or props. A finished two-minute piece would teach you the production process and give both collaborators something tangible to show.
