Public Ideas — I Care About Online Safety. What Could We Do with That?

Public contributions, oldest first. Ideas are free public suggestions. Proposals and private messages are not shown here.

This is very relevant especially to kids, a way to do good and earn something in the process would be to do some simple guides that you can distribute to schools - most have some awareness about the issue but the majority don't do nowhere near enough. As a parent I can tell you for sure I'd have no issue paying for any materials, online classes, any activity that the school can introduce that teaches kids about online safety. The fact that it comes from the school gives it credibility - so for you it would be a question of presenting that well and getting those partnerships.

You could always make short eBooks and self-publish them through Amazon! Short eBooks are making people tons of money right now, and it's pretty simple to learn. I self-published a 99-page eBook (and paperback) on Amazon covering remote side hustles. I followed the directions on Kindle Direct Publishing, and any question I had through the process, I asked Microsoft Copilot to guide me through it, and it did! I guarantee that eBooks on this topic would be popular, especially if you created ones for multiple age groups!

What about creating a little "spot the scam" game using fictional emails, messages and websites? Players would have to identify the warning signs, and after each answer you'd explain what made the message suspicious. You could have different levels for beginners and people who already know the basics. It might be particularly useful for community centres or libraries offering digital literacy workshops. You could build a simple prototype with ten examples and see how people respond.
